1. Who we are

Kulani Collective is a South African non-profit organisation based in Hoedspruit, Limpopo. We support African artisans through training, mentorship, traceable craft and access to markets. This policy explains how we collect, use and protect your personal information when you visit kulanicollective.org, in line with the Protection of Personal Information Act 4 of 2013 (POPIA).

2. Information we collect

  • Information you give us, such as your name, email address, phone number and message when you contact us or sign up for our newsletter.
  • Donation details, such as the amount and payment reference. Card payments are handled on Yoco’s secure payment page, and we never see or store your card details.
  • Basic technical information, such as your browser, device and the pages you visit, collected through cookies and standard website logs.

3. How we use it

We only use your information for the reason you shared it, including to:

  • Reply to your messages and enquiries;
  • Process and acknowledge your donation and keep accurate records;
  • Send you our newsletter, if you have signed up;
  • Keep our website secure and improve how it works;
  • Meet our legal obligations as a non-profit organisation.

We never sell, rent or trade your personal information.

4. Donations and shopping

Donations are processed by Yoco, and our products are sold through our Shopify store. Both services collect and protect your payment and order details under their own privacy policies, which we encourage you to read.

5. Our newsletter

We will only send you our newsletter if you have signed up for it. Every email includes an unsubscribe link, and you can opt out at any time.

6. Cookies

Cookies are small files stored on your device that help our website work properly and remember your preferences. Embedded content, such as Google Maps, may set its own cookies. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings, although some parts of the site may not work as intended if you do.

7. Sharing your information

We only share your information with trusted service providers who help us run our website and our work, such as our payment, email and website hosting providers. They may store information outside South Africa, and we only use providers who protect it to a standard similar to POPIA. We may also share information if the law requires it.

8. Our artisans

We only publish an artisan’s name, photograph or story with their consent, and they can ask us to update or remove it at any time.

9. Keeping it safe

We take reasonable steps to protect your information, including a secure website and reputable service providers. We keep information only for as long as we need it, or as long as the law requires, and then delete it securely.

10. Your rights

You have the right to ask what information we hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to object to us using it, and to withdraw your consent at any time. Email us at info@kulanicollective.org and we will help.
